When choosing the size of the kitchen, keep in mind the number of inhabitants. A good example of this is the estimate that it takes 3.4 metres’ counter space  to accommodate 1-2 inhabitants, while 3-4 people need 4.2 metres. If 5-6 people live in the house, you’ll need 5 metres of counter space to accommodate everyone.

Multiple people can use this kind of kitchen simultaneously, providing there’s room to move around each other. We recommend 1.1 metres of open space in front of the appliances.

This kitchen type gives multiple people lots of room to work in simultaneously. Counter space between the sink and stove is great for setting hot dishes on.

In a kitchen with two parallel sides, you’ll need 1.2 metres of open space between the sides to be able to get around each other. Putting the stove on the island also gives access to it from both sides.
